- Open the Instagram app on your mobile device or visit the Instagram website on your computer.
- Access your Direct Messages (DMs).
- Find the conversation with the person you wish to restrict.
- For mobile apps: Tap the "i" icon in the upper-right corner.
- For desktop: Click the three-dot icon in the upper-right part of their profile.
- Choose "Restrict."
- Confirm by selecting "Restrict Account."
Block Users
Blocking a user prevents them from seeing your posts, stories, and from sending you direct messages.
- Locate the user's profile on Instagram.
- For mobile apps: Tap the three dots in the top right of the profile, then select "Block."
- For desktop: Click the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of their profile, then select "Block."
