How To Keep Your Spotify Activity Private?
To keep your Spotify activity private, you have several options:
Disable Listening Activity:
- On iOS/Android app:
- Open the app, tap on the "Home" tab.
- Tap on the cog icon in the top right for iOS, or scroll down to the Social section for Android.
- Turn off "Listening activity" (toggle switch).
- On iOS/Android app:
Start a Private Session:
On iOS/Android app:
- Tap on the "Home" tab.
- Tap on the cog icon in the top right for iOS, or scroll down to the Social section for Android.
- Toggle on "Private session" (blue padlock will appear next to your profile picture).
On Desktop:
- Click on your profile name (top-right).
- Select "Private Session".
Note: Private Session ends after closing the app, inactivity, or when you disable it.
Make a Playlist Secret:
On iOS/Android app:
- Open the playlist you want to hide.
- Tap on the vertical or horizontal ellipsis icon (top right).
- Tap on "Make secret".
Note: Secret playlists are hidden from followers but can still be seen outside the playlist unless all options above are used.
Turn Off Recently Played Artists:
On Desktop:
- Click on your profile name at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down to the Social settings.
- Turn off "Show my recently played artists on my public profile".
On iOS/Android app:
- Open the app, tap on the "Home" tab.
- Tap on the cog icon in the top right for iOS, or scroll down to the Social section for Android.
- Turn off "Publish my new playlists on my profile" (if you're creating new playlists, this setting stops them from appearing publicly).
Remember, disabling all listening activity also prevents your songs from influencing your personalized playlist recommendations.
