What Are Broadcast Channels On Instagram? How It Works On iPhone?

Instagram Broadcast Channels are a new feature designed to facilitate one-to-many messaging between creators and their followers. Here's how it works on an iPhone:

Creating a Broadcast Channel on iPhone:

  1. Open the Instagram app and navigate to your Direct Messages (paper airplane icon) at the top right of the screen.
  2. Tap the pencil and paper icon to compose a new message.
  3. Choose "Create a broadcast channel" from the menu.
  4. Set a name for your channel, decide on the audience (default is limited to your followers), set an optional end date, and determine if you want the channel to display on your profile.
  5. Tap "Create broadcast channel."

After creating a broadcast channel, all your followers will be notified and invited to join. Your followers can see the new channels tab in their Instagram message inbox.

Joining a Broadcast Channel on iPhone:

If you're a follower receiving an invitation to join a creator's broadcast channel:

  1. Tap the notification indicating an invitation to join a broadcast channel.
  2. Review the creator's channel description and terms.
  3. Tap 'Join' to become a member of the channel.

As a member, you'll receive notifications and can view updates from the broadcast channel in your Instagram message inbox. You won't be able to respond directly to the messages, but you may react with emojis and participate in polls.

Creating a broadcast channel requires a Creator account on Instagram, which you can change from a personal or business account in your account settings. Please note that the availability of this feature might vary depending on region and Instagram's gradual rollout schedule.
